New priests’ assignments means changes at Church of Saint Mary

This evening Bishop will be ordaining three new priests. We are blessed that two priests who were ordained last year will be returning from advanced studies to serve parishes in the Diocese of Tulsa. Earlier today, Bishop David Konderla announced the new assignments for priests of the Diocese of Tulsa.

Father Duy Nguyen

Father Duy Nguyen served as the associate pastor at the Church of Saint Mary for the past two years. He also worked as a chaplain at Bishop Kelley High School two days every week. Bishop Konderla is assigning Father Duy to Bishop Kelley to be a full-time chaplain. He will also be studying canon law. Father Duy’s last weekend with us will be July 13 and 14.

The Church of Saint Mary will host receptions for Father Duy on Saturday, July 13 following the 5:00 p.m. Mass; and on Sunday, July 14 following both the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. Masses. Father Duy will celebrate the Sunday Evening Mass and will be present at the Raising Saints Picnic at 6:00 p.m.

Father Vince Fernandez

Bishop Konderla has assigned to the Church of Saint Mary as its new associate pastor Father Vince Fernandez. Father Vince’s first weekend with us will be July 20 and 21.

Ordained in 2018, Father Vince lived at the Cathedral for a few months before he traveled to Rome to pursue an advanced degree in spiritual direction. Father Vince grew up in Saint Bernard Parish in Tulsa and attended the School of Saint Mary.

We welcome Father Vince to the Church of Saint Mary. There will be a welcome reception for Father Vince on Sunday, July 21 after the 10:30 a.m. Mass.
