Parishioner Profiles: Kelly, Stephanie and Megan

Kelly Hotovek, Stephanie Milosevich, and Megan Gaspar love Halloween. They’re the perfect moms to organize this year’s Trunk or Treat.

What is Trunk or Treat?

Stephanie: It’s the most fun and best event all year.

Kelly: It’s an opportunity to socialize and mingle with other families. Instead of trick or treating from house to house, you can walk around in a familiar space and experience Halloween from the trunks of parishioners’ cars.

Stephanie: I also think it’s a good way to show your creativity and love of Halloween and of trick or treaters.

Megan: It’s also a good excuse to clean the back of your car.

Why do we host Trunk or Treat?

Stephanie: I know that it’s a trend that started with a lot of churches. I was thrilled to find out that the Church of Saint Mary does Trunk or Treat when I became a mom. I said, “Oh, good. My community does this as well.”

How did you get involved?

Megan: I love Halloween. I don’t know how someone found out, but I remember someone asking me if I’d host it, and I said, “Sure. I’d love to.”

Kelly: As a newer parishioenr, I’m always looking to get more involved – especially because my son attends a public school. When the opportunity came up, I saw a chance to mingle with families from the School of Saint Mary. This secular holiday overlaps with themes from All Saints Day and All Souls Day. I want all parish families to feel welcome and invited to bond with our parish school.

What can new participants expect when they come?

Megan: Lots of trunks, decorations, and music. For the first time ever, we will have a food truck selling gourmet hot dogs.

Kelly: The Knights of Columbus will be there distributing bottled water.

When is it?

Stephanie: It’s on Friday, October 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Megan: It is in the School Parking Lot.

Kelly: Volunteers will be there to treat kids to homemade games. This is a serious DIY crafting opportunity.

Stephanie: It’s a good opportunity to show your crafting skills.

Kelly: If you want to be a trunk host, please contact Megan.

Megan: We ask all families that want to participate to donate a bag of candy.
