Parishioner Dr. George Erbacher receives prestigious award

The American Osteopathic College of Radiology honored parishioner Dr. George Erbacher with their Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Erbacher is the fourteenth person selected to receive this award.

In recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedication and service, George E. Erbacher, DO, FAOCR, has been selected as the recipient of the AOCR Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Erbacher has been a dedicated member of the AOCR since he became a resident member in 1988. He has diligently served the AOCR throughout his career. During his tenure with the College, he served as a member of the AOCR Board of Directors for 14 years and was elected as the 62nd President. He has served on numerous committees throughout his membership, including teh Committee on Strategic Planning, the Nominating Committee, the Finance Committee and the Committee on Evaluation and Educational Standards. He has participated as faculty at a number of AOCR sponsored CME activities over the years. In addition, Dr. Erbacher currently represents the osteopathic profession as a member of the ACGME Radiology Review Committee.

A 1980 graduate of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Ostopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Erbacher completed his internship at Brentwood Hospital in Warrensville Heights, Ohio in 1981. After completion of a Family Medicine Residency at Rocky Mountain Hospital in Denver, Colorado and six years of family practice, Dr. Erbacher elected to commence training in radiology. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency Training in 1991 at Tulsa Regional Medical Center (now OSU Medical Center) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He subsequently completed an Angiography and Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1992. He was certified by the AOBR in Diagnostic Radiology in 1992 and also earned a certification of added qualifications in Angiography and Interventional Radiology in 1996.

For over 20 years, Dr. Erbacher served as Program Director for either the Radiology residency or the Intervnetional Radiology Fellowship at Oklahoma State University Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma. In addition, Dr. Erbacher has served as Chairman of the Graduate Meical Education Committee and Department of Radiology at OSU Medical Center, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Touro University, Hencerson, Nevada; Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine and is on the OSUCOM Advisory Board to the OSU Regents.

The Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor to be given to a member of the AOCR. The award is presented to recognize extraordinary meritorious service to the AOCR. Dr. Eracher is the 14th person ever selected to receive this award.

    Knowing George, this is not a surprise at all. If Church of St Mary had such an award, he would easily qualify. What a giving, humble and deserving person. Congratulations, George!
