Let’s help Marshall Elementary get ready for the start of school

Parishioner Ellen Doyle is setting up a parish service project to help teachers at Marshall Elementary School.

Ellen met with Marshall Elementary School principal Kristy Tatum to set up a time when Church of Saint Mary parishioners can help set up classrooms for the upcoming school year. Marshall Elementary is on 56th Street west of Peoria Avenue.

Principal Tatum says that the teachers will be reporting for their first day on August 15. They have one week before the students arrive. Church of Saint Mary parishioners are invited to help for a couple of hours on August 15 to move tables, sort through teaching materials, and help individual teachers prepare for the upcoming year.

August 15 is the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation. Mass will be offered at 6:30 and 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Those who wish to help with the Marshall Elementary project will gather after the 9:00 a.m. Mass.

Quick Facts:
  • August 15
  • Meet after the 9:00 a.m. holy day Mass.
  • Carpool to Marshall Elementary.
  • Set up classrooms.
  • Return by noon or so.
